I think we do need a revised way of addressing ourselves as citizens of the US, because anyone from the Americas is American... I think USAmerican works, but I wouldn't personally use it until it started catching on. It feels cringy and online (and I know a lot of people use it to complain about us... I've never seen it said in a positive light).
